Blu ray UJ-220S on Windows 7 not reading blu ray disks on an Alienware m51 9750
Hello I own an alienware m51 9750. I have the UJ-220S in it. When I converted to Windows 7 it stopped reading blu ray disks. I looked at the driver and it is from 2006. I have tried looking for a newer driver and cannot find one. I have uninstalled the driver and windows 7 keeps installing the same old driver. When I go to update it it states you are using the most up to date driver. I have read many posts like this o the web. The all state DELL is responsible to have a newer driver available. What can I do? I have Windows 7 32 bit with the most up to date Cyberlink power dvd 10. I have the most current nvidia drivers installed. The unit reads normal DVS and cds fine.

Hi Ericstuart,
What you've read is incorrect. All optical drive device drivers are generic to Windows. You need to perform the Dell diagnostics on your drive with a blu-ray disc in the drive to see if this is a hardware or software problem. That's where I'd start, then we can pursue other ideas.

I am wondering why Eric copied my exact post from the Dell/Alienware forums and placed it here as if it were written by him?

I'm afraid I do not know the procedure for testing an Alienware drive.
