Boot the USB HDD Enclosure?
Hi...
I had 4 HDDs, it has Windows XP in all of 'em, lying around and wanted to use 'em as back up and possibly boot to load Windows XP so I bought new HDD enclosure that will connect via USB. I hooked 'em up and I was able to open the files and see it all which is pretty cool.
Now the question I have wondered... can I boot the HDD enclosure to open Windows XP? I know I don't see "USB" in BIOS in Boot section. How does it work?
Btw, my desktop is Studio XPS 7100 2 years old now.
Thanks!

Hi deafcheer,
I would like to inform you that you can boot from the HDD to install Windows XP on the system.
In order to see this as bootable harddrive you need to make sure that you make this as bootable harddrive and then copy windows files on the same.
Thanks and Regards

You will not be able to boot a drive if it was simply moved from an internal position with XP already on it. You CAN make a USB external drive bootable, but NOT by moving a boot drive to an external case.

Okay, how do I make a USB external drive bootable? Is there a tutorial for that? That'll help me understand better. Thanks!
