Booting question

Not sure I'm posting in the proper place, but perhaps someone can answer. I have a XPS 435 and a Inspiron 620. The XPS has died and I need to use that hard drive. It's a Hitachi sata drive. I put it in the inspiron but can't boot to it. Bios sees the drive and I can access the files once I'm in windows, but I need to boot to the drive. What are my options. Will that drive work in any model xps or just the 435? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You cannot use the drive as a boot device.  You can access your  data files by taking ownership of them once the drive is connected as a secondary (see link below) but you can't use a drive with Windows installed on one set of hardware in another.

To take ownership of your files, see
