Can't connect the DVDRW Drive to my motherboard
Hi,
I own DELL OPTIPLEX GX270.
I've bought Liteon Internal DVD/CD Writer
I've tried to install the DVDRW to the motherboard but this drive has some 7 pin SATA data cable and 15 pin SATA power connector which I don't know.
I can see only 7 pin SATA port on motherboard and I have the data calbe.
But how and where do i connect the 15 pin SATA power connector on the motherboard. Does OPTIPLEX GX270 motherboard has a slot/port for SATA power cable?
Is there anyway to connect my dvdrw drive to the motherboard ? Please help.
Thank you.

The Optiplex GX270 has no SATA ports. It requires an
IDE device. From your manual .............

Return the SATA drive for an IDE drive.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
But as I know that OptiPlex GX270 has a SATA 7 pin data port. The only problem is wih Power connector.
Is it possible if I get something like Power Adapter which will help to connect the SATA power connection to IDE.
Please suggest.
Thanks.

One of the GX270 models has two SATA ports that are intended
for hard drives only. Otherwise, the GX270 models are intended
to use IDE optical drives.
I assume you have the Mini-tower model. There may be a spare
power connector near the hard drive cables for a second hard drive.
Otherwise, you may have to obtain a spliter cable from a local
store to take one SATA power connector and split it to two. I
do not know of an IDE to SATA power converter. Check with them
about that also.
This may be what you want ....
