RE: Dell 4550 - Not Recognizing any IDE Drives.

Why is the hard drive being replaced?

Is it only the hard drive, or are all the IDE drives not being recognized?

Is the hard drive recognized in the BIOS [system setup]?

Have you tried using a new IDE, 3 Connector, 80 wire ribbon cable?

Is the power button LED, solid green, blinking green, solid amber, blinking amber, or off?

Check the sequence of the DIAGNOSTIC LIGHTS [page 1] on the back panel of the case.
