Dell Inspiron E1505 problem with the DVD/ RW driver....please help

My computer will not read cds or dvds..... in the properties of the drive under the device status it says: "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"

I did what the troubleshoot said to do and it did not work..... also in the device manager by the device there is a yellow circle with an exclamation point.

i use windows xp home
