Dell XPS 8100 upgrading to SSD
Hi,
I have a Dell XPS 8100 and I understand the motherboard is very outdated. What I am wondering is am I able to upgrade to an SSD, and what the benefits are of doing so. Would I be able to add it in with my current hard drive in, and would I be able to reinstall windows onto the SSD so it boots from it whilst the hard drive is still inside? I am looking at using the Samsung 860 Evo 500GB Sata 2.5 inch Internal SSD, but apparently it will not utilise it to the max, so should I just buy as cheap an SSD as I can (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-MZ-76E500B-EU-Solid-State/dp/B078WQT6S6)? Will I require a 2.5-3.5inch mounting bracket too, and could you recommend one. Finally, how painful is the process?
Apologies for the long list of question.
