Hi san_atnur,

It appears to be an issue with the Hard Drive of your system. You may run onboard diagnostics on the system to check the hardware functionality :

  • Power on the laptop
  • Press F12 button on keyboard when you see Dell logo
  • Highlight Diagnostics option and press Enter
  • Let the diagnostics run and note down error messages if any and continue tests

Please reply with the results of the hardware Diagnostics.

For security reasons, I would request to remove the Service Tag and Express Service Code from the post as it is considered personal information.

If your system is under warranty, they'll supply a pre-imaged drive.    If not, you'll need to reinstall Windows, drivers and applications yourself -- the replacement drive will arrive blank.

Can i upgrade my HDD to 1TB or l502x max supports only 750gb of HDD ???

April 18th, 2013 09:00

Hi san_atnur,

Dell has tested this system with hard drives upto 750 GB capacity. However, as long as it is a SATA drive, it is likely to function with XPS L502X ; supports SATA III hard drives.

Please reply if you have any further questions. I would be glad to help you.

Hi arian.ke,

XPS L502X is shipped with Mobile Intel HM67 Express Chipset and have SATA III capabilties. The motherboard is capable of SATA III speeds (upto 6Gb/s). The system is shipped with both SATA II and SATA III hard drives.

You may check the original configuration of your system from the following link http://dell.to/13LWJoE -> type the Service tag of the computer -> click on System Configuration -> Original Configuration.

Please share the information here, I will look into the same and will inform you whether the hard drive you have is SATA III or not.

Hope this helps. Please reply with the findings.

Hi arian.ke,

Please do not share service tag of your system on a public forum as it is considered personal information and can be misused. You may send the information via private message by clicking on my name and click start conversation.

I have looked in the system information, the 750 GB hard drive shipped with your system is SATA II. However, you may upgrade to a SATA III SSD drive and it should work with your system as the motherboard supports SATA operations at 6Gb/s speeds.

Hope this helps. Please reply if you have any further questions.

Hi

I am considering upgrading my DELL XPS L502x with a new SSD

Crucial M500 960GB 2.5-inch Internal SSD

I followed this thread to see if I also have 6GB Sata controller but when I look at my Original System Configuration as suggested I can't find information regarding the SATA controller. I presume my system is the same as arian.ke as I too have the 750GB HD.

Can you confirm, that I should be OK with the new SSD.

Thanks

Andy

Hi Andy,

Your system board supports SATA operations at 6Gb/s speeds. Dell has tested this system with SSD's of capacity upto 512 GB. You may upgrade to any SATA III 2.5 inch internal SSD. It should work with your system.

Hope this helps.
