Dimension 3000 not recognizing new CD/DVD/RW driver
My original cd/dvd/rw hardware was failing so I purchased a new 22x I/O Magic drive (upon the suggestion of a Dell salesperson).
I uninstalled the old and put in the new per instructions found on the Dell site and the computer would not recognize the new hardware, in fact, the computer indicated at start up that there was an error reading the "0" drive. In the startup menu the drive was simply gone.
Following more instructions I cleared the NVRAM and now the computer recognizes new hardware - but it thinks it is a floppy disc drive.
Anyone know what I can do? I have an email out to the original salesperson but to date no response, other than to consult the community.

Dell systems use the Cable select feature. Did you set the jumper
on the drive to the cable Select (CS or CSEL) position?

I did not know this. I simply plugged the thing into the required ports. Thank you. I will check.
