Dimenson 9200 with XP SP3 OS - Raid 0 disk failure
From diag screen
Raid config as shown when booting
Diag errrors
Blue screen if trying to boot using safe mode, last known good or any other option
Hi
Have had a potential disk failure with Dimenson 9200 with XP SP3 OS , please see screen shots above. Both disk still shown in bios and raid config as shown above. Any suggestions, would an attempted OS re-install be any use if so how would to try this. Tried insert XP cd and booting from it but get same blue screen at early stage in reinstall.
Or is it the disk itself, if so any way to recover any data. Have tried both disk connected in a USB sata disk caddy connected to an xp laptop. But no data is displayed.
Help much appreciated.
Kind Regards
Terry

Hi Terry,
This indicates the hard drive failure. We need to replace the hard drive on the computer in order to fix the issue.
The serial number of the hard drive is in the picture. Check the hard drive serial number in BIOS to replace the hard drive.
If the warranty on teh computer has expired, I suggest you to contact Expired warranty services for compatible part replacement:
Dell Expired warranty services (US): http://dell.to/1bMx5me
****NOTE: If you have any important data, kindly backup data before replacing the Hard drive.
Please reply for further questions.

Hi Dell-Rajesh,
We cannot backup as the machine will not start, please refer to the screen shots. Is there anyway of getting past the BSOD message.
Need to backup before replacing the disk.
Does the replacement disk procedure wipe all the data currently present on the working disk?
Are you sure its the disk and this could not be fixed by an attempted OS reinstalled.
Sorry for all the question do really appreciate your help.
Machine is out of warranty, [Amin Note: Service Tag Edited per TOU policy] if that's any help, dell dimension 9200
Many thanks

Hi Terry,
Even if we try changing the SATA Operations there are chances of data loss as the computer has RAID 0. Also, changing the drive or disconnecting the hard drive from the computer would also result in data loss.
For data backup, you may contact a local technician or drive savers to back up data.
I have provided a link below for drive savers data backup:

Click on the above link and select the options accordingly. They would help you in backing up data.

Because RAID 0 does not provide any redundancy, it's impossible to recover a failed RAID system without
a backup.
Unlike normal crashes, you will not able to extract any data from the hard drives in the array even though only one of the hard drives failed.
This is because every file had been striped across two hard drives.
Therefore, when even one of the drives fails, chunks from every file will disappear and all affected files will become unusable.
Whenever RAID-0 is used, it is important to make regular backups of the files and folders to other media, eg an external hard drive, or a USB thumb drive
While data recovery companies might be able to recover the files and folders, the cost of this could be prohibitive.
