Disabling RAID
Currently my Dell XPS has 2x500GB HDD. They are set up on a RAID 0 configuration.
Currently, and because I did not have a choice at the time, I partitioned these 2x500GB while they were in RAID mode, to three different Partitions.
I suspect that Hard Drives in RAID 0 do not like to be partitioned, considering that whenever i write large files to the hard drive, the computer crashes.
This isnt real helpful when I've spent 7 hours on a photoshop speed painting, only to have the computer freeze up at the end.
After restart, the video is lost. The file was saved, but I wanted the video. Regardless, after 5 attempts, with each one producing the same results, i eventually completed my task of the speed painting.
At a later date though, i would like to reprogram my computer, disable RAID 0, and have my computer recognize the HD's as 2 seperate 500GB.
after which, i will be able to partition them.
Partitioning my drives has always been crucial, so as to save my data when my windows Installation is corrupt. Doesnt really help when one Hard drive crashes. Especially in the A/V business.
Question: How can I disable RAID the next time I reprogram my system?
Thank you in advance for all assisstance.

Boot the system, press CTRL+I (i) when indicated to enter the RAID BIOS setup, select Delete Raid Volume and set the drives to a non-RAID configuration.
As you have RAID 0, you will loose all data on both drives and need to reinstall windows.
