HDD error codes

RE:  Inspiron 1505

I turned it on and got [XLR] !ATA.  Tried pressing F8 to boot into Safe Mode, says no hard drive.  Put Windows reinstallation CD in and booted to the CD drive.  Tried a Windows install, again says no hard drive.  Restated, this time selected diagnostics, all the results were OK except for the hard drive.  Here's what it said:

Error Code: 0148

2000-0148

0-IDE Error Status 43

Is my hard drive shot?
