thanks odius for the info.

another question.  does the 7200RPM make big differences in speed?  like loading time of windows, programs etc?

thanks again

They are, The IBM Hitachi Travelstar 7K60 60GB ATA-6 2.5in 7200RPM is the one I have. Quiet and fast. But Dell's price is too high right now. I would do a google search for a less expensive one. ZipZoomfly is the cheapest I found, but their out of stock.

Over the 4200? Night and day. I have to click on icons the hard way. I am no longer fast enough to click on one in the desktop and then click the one next to it. :smileyvery-happy:

60gb is the largest 7200 rpm at present. There are 100gb drives in slower speeds
