How to replace a failing hard drive on Inspiron 660
My Inspiron 660 hard drive is failing. I bought and installed a new bigger drive from Amazon. Using he Windows 8 recovery jump drive I made when I first bought the computer, I can not reset the PC. If I choose, "Yes, repartition the drives" it says, "There was a problem resetting your PC". If I choose, "No, Keep the existing partitions" I get "Unable to reset your PC. A required drive partition is missing."
I was hoping I could use the recovery disk (jump drive) to install the Windows 8 on the new drive.
Is there a way to install Windows 8 on the new hard drive?

You need to download windows 8.1 iso file, burn it to disk and boot to the disk and do a custom install. Recovery disks don't work on a new blank hard drive. Directions and download here--

You can Download a Windows 10 TH2 .iso from Microsoft and Clean Install using your Windows 8 OEM UEFI BIOS SLP key:

Thank-you very much for the helpful information. I ended up buying new computer, but when I get time maybe I'll bring the old one back to life.
