I'm installing a 2nd hard drive in my xps 8300

1. do I need to remove the Hard Drive Cage in order to install a 2nd harddrive or can i slide the hard drive into the cage and screw in the 4 screws without removing the cage ?

2. what size are the 4 screws that are used to attach the hard drive to the cage ?

thanks

rimland,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

You will need to remove the HD cage to insert the 2nd HD.

Here is the part number and screw nomenclature for the HD carrier.

P/N 48480    Screw, 6-32X1/4", For HDD(Qty:4)

I used these to install a second hard drive in mine. Pack of 50 but is quite cheap and is exactly what is needed.
