Inspiron 5423 Invisible Hard Disk Drive

The laptop has Win 8.1 installed. However, I wish to format hard drive and do a fresh install of Win 7 Ultimate.

Problem arises when I reach the point where I want to choose what to do with the exisiting partitions and where to install Windows. Drive(s) are invisible with messag: "No drives were found.Click load driver to provide a mass storage driver for installation."

Will I find this required driver on the utility disk software which I am busy downloading at the moment?

Your assistance will be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance.

You will need to pause the install and insert a flash drive with the correct driver on it, or prepare a new Windows 7 install disc with the driver pre-loaded onto it.  Also be sure your 7 insall media has SP1 already slipped into it -  you cannot use an original release (pre-SP1) to install on this system.

The install will vary if your system has a 32G caching SSD.
