Inspiron 8600: Replacing 5100DVD drive with NEC 6650
Hi,
I want to upgrade my old NEC5100DVD drive (which came with the laptop from Dell) to a new NEC 6650 (that is being sold on special from New Egg right now).
Can I swap face plates? The Eject button seems to be in a different location.
If I have to keep the new face plate, what will hold the new drive in place? Will the module screw hold it?
Any experiences by fellow 8600 owners is appreciated. Heck, any suggestions are appreciated. :smileyhappy:

Here is the "button" I'm talking about:

I did do that successfully. The original drive has a face plate which has a button on the left which releases the drive from the laptop. The release button can't be used as the face plat is too large. If I can't use that mechanism, what will keep the drive inside the laptop?
