Internal or External DVD Recordable Drive???

I'm looking at getting a 9200, I want to have a dvd recordable eventually.  Am I better off getting an internal one with the computer, or just getting a base internal drive and getting an external drive.  They both seem about the same price, so an internal one would be easier to use without any wires, etc.  So I am leaning towards the internal one unless there are any specific advantages to the external one?  any advice is appreciated.
