Jumper Settings for Second HDD

I want to add a second SATA drive to my XPS 8100.  No problem installing, formatting etc but not quite sure if the second drive is set up as a slave in the SATA configuration with respect to jumper settings?  With ribbon cable in the old IDE drive sequence I understood ,more or less, the jumper settings.  Is it same with SATA configuration/cables?

Thanks much.

Hi patmu, No jumper settings needed for SATA, only for IDE etc.

To setup an new hard drive do this,  When you see the Dell splash screen, Press F2, go into your BIOS, Highlight the drive and press enter to enable it. Then save and exit into windows. Then go into Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Storage, Disk Management. Then right click your new drive, select format. From there you can assign the drive an letter.
