LITEON DVD-ROM LTD163 cannot read
I have a Dimension 8250 (january 2003) with build in
a LITEON DVD-ROM LTD163
and a _NEC DVD+RW ND-1100A
the burner software I use is Easy CD Creator platinium latest update 5.3.5.10 (upgrade over a former version)
Since I use the 5 version the LITEON does not read the burned media any more. Is there anyone who has a solution?

Hi Lupoo,
First verify that you have DMA enabled for the drive, this is just standard.
For now, Dell has the Downloads under Product Support tab above, enter information for your system and follow the links. I believe Dell has released a firmware update for the 163 to address some read issues, consider installing it.

Thanks for the solution it solved the reading problems but left me with another:
What did I do? I downloaded the Dell updates for the LITEON as well The NEC 1000A
and enabled DMA for the primair as well the secundair IDE channel.
Apparently writing and reading works. But the disk copy function in Easy CD creator does not work anymore.
It reqocnise the source but not the blance one in the NEC.
