Media (camera memory card readers) Drives Not Recognized
I have internal media card drives that are not being recognized by my computer. In the past when this has happened a simple restart would correct the issue. But now that no longer works. Does some know how I can repair this issue?
I have an XPS Studio 420.
Thank you very much!!

Hi, Trypsin:
The most common cause of this problem is a drive letter conflict. It's usually triggered by the addition of another mass storage device, such as an external hard drive. Did you add any such device recently?

My media card reader also has disappeared. I have no drive letter conflict. I have an Inspiron 530S. If I had information on the media card reader (brand name or description?) maybe I would reinstall the dirver, but I cannot even identify what the dirver is or wither I still have it on my computer. I see on my device manager the under "ports" is a "unkown device". Perhpas that is it, but I don't know. I have always worked fine until today.
P.S. Nice game by VT against my Canes. We'll get you next year down here.

Hi, JStevenW:
Try deleting the device in device manager, then reboot. In the downloads for your system, I see two files for a 13-in-one media card reader, a firmware update and a driver update. See if either of those helps.
P.S. I'm a big fan of Coach Shannon. He's got that team going in the right direction, and the ACC definitely needs a few more top tier teams.
