I have a Latitude E4310 who's got something wrong internally which won't let it power on. Dell support is going to be sending a tech my way with a replacement motherboard. Since I can't power the laptop on and remove the hard drive password, will the hard drive be accessible with the new motherboard?
If the hard drive had a password on it, you will not have access to the drive if the mainboard is replaced, no.
There are some data recovery services that can remove the password from the drive -- www.nortek.on.ca being one of them - but the password will remain on the drive and you won't have access to the contents until you have it removed by such a service.
