Problem with _NEC DVD+RW ND-2100AD not recognizing Verbatim DVD-Rs

I just bought a 50 pack of Verbatim DVD-Rs (on sale at Best Buy this week) and my DVD-RW isn't even recognizing them, the package says "For Use in 4x DVD-R drives" and "Damage to hardware and media could occur if this disc is used with some older non-4X DVD-R drives"... Well this is supposed to be an 8X speed DVD-RW so I should have no problem you'd think, yet this is not so, so I was wondering if anyone has found any places where I can update the driver for my _NEC DVD+RW ND-2100AD, the Dell and NEC websites are both useless, can anyone help?
