Replace HDD with SSD with fresh install of Win7

I am going to replace an existing 1TB HDD with a 128GB SSD on an Alienware Aurora Desktop PC. I have found an article mentioning something about installing a piece of software called "Desktop System Software (DSS)" first before any other software including Chipset drivers. However, in looking through Dell's available choices I don't see any version of the DSS that mentions my Alienware PC which brings me to my question...is it necessary?

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Bob,

If it's not listed for your model and operating system, then it's not necessary.

What you need to do is use Dell Datasafe to create a set of recovery discs from the existing drive. Then install the new 1TB drive, and use your recovery discs to install the drive image on the new drive. Just look up Dell Datasafe on the main support site for more details.
