Test failure

My laptop diagnostic test was good but said Hard drive must be replaced by new one.

But I don't actually know what is Hard drive?

Is that a physical object or a program?

It is a physical device that holds all data stored in the system.  If you need a replacement recommendation, please supply the system model information -- i.e., Inspiron N5110, 3521, etc.).

You need a new 2.5" 7 or 9.5 mm SATA notebook drive -- and on this model, quite a bit of disassembly is required to replace the drive.  You may want to leave the work to a computer shop -- it'll likely cost about $50 for a drive and $100 or so in labor.
