USB transfer speed

We have several Dell OptiPlex 7010 and 7020 computers desktops.

They have both USB 2.0 and SS USB (which I understand means USB 3.0) ports.  We have attached several different name brand thumb drives in order to transfer data from the desktop to the thumb driver.  However, the transfer speed on both the USB and SS USB ports is 65 bytes/s.  It states that it will take over a day to transfer 65 GB.  We have tried different ports, different computers and different thumb drives and it is always the same very slow speed.

Is there something in the bios that needs to be changed to make the USB ports transfer faster?

It is unlikely that there is a BIOS setting that would cause such slow transfer speeds on USB ports. This issue could be caused by several factors such as a driver issue, a faulty USB controller or cable, or a problem with the USB drive itself.

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Update the USB drivers on the computer to the latest version.
  2. Try a different USB cable to connect the thumb drive to the computer.
  3. Test the thumb drive on a different computer to see if the issue persists.
  4. Run a virus scan on the computer to ensure that malware is not causing the issue.
  5. Check if there are any programs or background processes that are hogging system resources and slowing down data transfer speeds.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, you may need to contact Dell technical support for further assistance.
