What should be in my startup list? And what is....

What are the stuff that should be on my startup list, what should or should not be checked?

What SHOULD be checked in the startup?

And I looked at the list and why is there a check where 'startup item' is blank, command spto is blank, but there is a location. What is that , should i uncheck it?

Right now i only have 7 things checked and a whole bunch unchecked.

When i turn on my computer and click on a username i THINK i see a window pop up and gone quickly, i'm not sure but i think i saw something.

PLEASE HELP!!!!

Give the free utility Startup Inspector a try.  It will list all your startup program and can provide info on what each does and whether or not it's necessary.

Okay, so I used the startup inspector, but EVERYTHING has a question mark... so i'm going to post ALL of the programs here, the checked and unchecked ones.

Then you can tell me what should be checked and what shouldn't be checked.

I'll post them soon....!

Below procedure will provide a faster boot up, and eliminate wasting memory on programs that are not in use at this time, and may help gaming……

http://netsquirrel.com/msconfig/  Fair reading on start up programs

Start Up Programs: Click on START, Click on Run, than put in the box MSCONFIG Click OK. Now you are in the System Configuration Utility Program. Click on START UP you see on the top of this Utility Program. Uncheck the programs from here that you do not want to start at boot up, leaving the anti virus and any third party firewall alone. You can always go back into this program to restart them. They will not be uninstalled. Click on APPLY, than it will ask you if you wish to reboot the system. Do so. After it boots up again, you will be presented with another window from the System Configuration Utility Program telling you that you have made an adjustment. If you don't want to see this pop up each time you boot up, put a check mark in the little box in the lower left corner of this announcement.

http://www.sysinfo.org/startuplist.php  Link to a site that can explain what you have starting up, if you do not already know, and which ones you can safely un-check. It’s a long list. Or you can Google Search for what is showing in the Msconfig program, and see what it is...

It's not really about what "should" be checked or unchecked but more along the lines of what you want to start up with windows. For example, I don't let anything run on startup xcept for my Anti-Virus. You have like Aol Tray, Yahoo Pager, and just random programs that are probably slowing up your computer on boot-up. Also the reason you can and can't remove them is because your probably on a restricted user account or something and not on the admin account.

We have 3 user account on the computer, and i tried making changes on all of the account but still always get the message ...

Could it because programs i uninstalled are still listed in the startup list?

If so, how can i remove them from the startup list?
