Windows/system32/config/system missing or corrupt after power outage
On my second computer I get the following message when I boot it up "Windows/system32/config/system missing or corrupt" then it tells me that I may be able to repair the problem by inserting the setup disk cd-rom and hitting "r" on the first screen.. Well, i've tried every disk that came with my computer, and none of them seem to work.. Does anyone know what disk it's looking for? If it's one I need to make, I can do it on this computer, since both computer are the same..

If you have two systems, mount the unbootable drive in the good one, copy the data you need from it, and then reinstall the drive in the non-booting system, format the drive, and reinstall Windows.
You can fiddle with it, but that's probably going to be the end result anyway.

Type this in the search box on the upper left side of this website (without the quotes) and you'll find the solution:
"How Do I Recover from a Corrupted Registry that Prevents the Microsoft® Windows® XP Operating System from Starting? "
