addition of solid state drive

I own a dell vostro 15 5568. It shipped with the following specs

Intel core i5- 7th gen

8 gb ram

2 gb nvidia geforce 940mx

1 tb hdd.

I recently noticed an ssd slot. I don't know what type of ssd slot it is. But i require a performance boost. So is there any option to add an ssd. can I use it alongside hdd. Does my laptop support dual drives simulataneously
