dvdrw/cdrw drops out of device manager

:smileymad:it happens when it wants to like i turned on the puter this am went to play a dvd and no dvd, had to reboot and then its back it happens at random

Ok p4 2.9 CPU, 512 ddr2 ram 80 gig h/d XP home, Sony dvdrw/cdrw  bought from dell.
 
for no reason at times the CD/DVD disappears from device manager and i have to reboot the computer and then its back.

Check this page from Jeff's site and see if anything helps:

You may also want to check your DMA settings. Maybe your drive is not identified properly in system setup.

ok think i found out prob:( bios was set to boot off of cd rom, then  hp threading was turned off, and hard drive wasnt set to performance:smileyindifferent:

 

ill know in am if that was the problem

well that was the problem took 30 secs to boot up :smileyhappy:
