Dell SupportAssist

I was using my laptop fine this morning during a lecture, went out to work this evening, came back and can’t get past Dell’s Support Assist screen.

It says “No bootable devices found”, I have no idea how to get past this so can’t use my computer - any help would be greatly appreciated!

Laptop was bought brand new from PC World in December 2016.

Re: Dell SupportAssist

Please list Dell model number and version of windows. Dell Inspiron 3543, windows 10

In the meantime, please check to see if the Hard drive / or solid state drive is detected in BIOS:

1. Power off system. Remove all peripherals (except AC adapter)

2. Power on system, quickly start tapping the F2 key continuously until you see the BIOS setup

Re: Dell SupportAssist

Thought I’d replied to that but clearly didn’t send...

It was sold as a Dell Inspiron 13 5000, although the BIOS Setup screen thing says Dell Inspiron 13-5378 in the top left...

I managed to get to a page on Tuesday where it was about to reboot, then realised it would delete all my files first. Didn’t have an external HDD so didn’t have a chance to download anything so I cancelled the boot. I’ve now bought an HDD but can’t get back to the screen where I have the option to download the files...

Does anyone know how to do it?

Re: Dell SupportAssist

Hi, I followed your steps and have successfully backed up my HDD, I just want to check everything is recoverable in the correct format before resetting my laptop, so I've plugged the HDD into a desktop computer to view the files.

When I select the files in Dell SupportAssist File Restore and tell it to save everything to the C: drive on my desktop, it started the process however it now keeps crashing mid-transfer. It constantly displays a loading circle with no progress being made, however if I click anywhere on the screen, it gives a program not responding pop-up, with the options wait for a response or close program. Wait for response isn't doing anything (been over an hour) but close program gives a warning implying I risk losing everything (I presume the procedure is to transfer everything from the external HDD into the program and then back out to the PC's HDD? - and it must be in the second of the three stages?)

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I don't want to close it if it means I'll lose any work, but also want it resolved as quickly as possible.
