Fail Support Assists PCI Bus - Functional Tests - D0701

Hi Everyone,

My Alienware R12 desktop gave a few beeps this morning so ran a Support Assist hardware scan. The following failure was detected:

Is this a major issue? Everything seems to be working ok otherwise. The machine is only 6 months old and is running latest BIOS supplied by support assist.

Thanks for you help

I have  the latest Aurora R12 BIOS update (v1.1.16) and it does not "resolve the SupportAssist error." The PCI Bus - Functional Tests - D0701 error has occurred since June 29, shortly after I installed the following:

       Alienware Aurora R12 System BIOS - 1.1.14 - 9.19 MB

Killer PCIe Ethernet Controller Driver - A39 - 54.05 MB

Before this, I had received no SupportAssist errors. So maybe the cause of the error can be traced back to at least one of these two installs.

I hope this helps resolve the issue.

On top of the PCI bus error, for the last 3 weeks I have not been getting updates via SA. It gives me an error. Has anyone else had this additional problem?

Hi playkid:

There are multiple reports of users having problems installing or running SupportAssist v3.11.4.29 in this SupportAssist for PCs board - see Vatsal Vakharia's 13-Aug-2022 SupportAssist Scan for Drivers Update Error for one example. If none of the suggested workarounds in Vatsal's thread solves your problem would be best if you started your own topic in this SupportAssist for PCs board so you don't take this thread about the D0701warning off-topic.

Be sure to include you Dell computer model, Windows operating system [if Win 10 or Win 11 include the edition (Home or Pro), version and build number shown at Settings | System | About | Windows Specifications] and your current BIOS version (open a Run dialog box, enter msinfo32 to open your System Information panel and look for the “BIOS Version/Date” field). Also let us know your current version of SupportAssist v3.x and Dell Update / Dell Command | Update v4.x (if installed) listed at Control Panel | Programs | Programs and Features, describe the exact error message you see when you run SupportAssist, and what steps, if any, you've taken to try and fix your SupportAssist error.

I have an Aurora R12 that's running the latest BIOS and the PCI-Bus Error D0701 still persists. Just had the motherboard replaced (unrelated issue) and followed with a clean windows install. Thought that would remove the pesky D0701 error code - but no, still there! And as mentioned, I have the latest BIOS and can confirm that does not resolve the error message issue

Same here. I have an Aurora R12 too (with the latest BIOS). Reported the issue to Dell when it started appearing on June 26. Error msg has been constant since then but machine was stable and couldn't find any issues other than the pesky error msg. Just had the motherboard replaced and thought the msg may have been the forewarning of motherboard failure, but after replacing the motherboard, doing a clean install of Windows - the msg is still there Machine seems stable and although it's only 1 day after install of new (refurbed) motherboard, all seems good. When I reported the PCI - Bus FAIL result back in June, Dell diagnosed as a FALSE-POSITIVE result. After reading the threads on this discussion saying machines reporting that error code still seem stable, it appears that a false-positive is what it is.

Agreed. No solution has been found. Error message still persists. Appears it's a false-positive from the running the hardware test. Annoying to see it every time.

I have reinstalled Windows, problem still on my R12 too,  although updates are working again. Glad others are voicing their concerns.  I’m going to ignore it for now.

Yesterday I was speaking with the Dell Pro Support tech who's been handling the troubleshooting that led to replacement of motherboard on my R12. He said Dell is aware of the common D0701 error and that they're currently working on it. Guess that's good news that it's now in the spotlight. Hopefully it will be resolved soon.

I don't think they care about how much time we spend trying to figure out what is wrong.

That's good news! I'm having the exact D0701 in my Dell G15. Hope they fix it soon.

Yeah! I'm having issues with the write speed of my Kioxia SSD and I don't know if it has anything to do with this error in SupportAssist. On the official Kioxia website they say that the SSD write speed is 1400mb, but I never get more than 500mb.

When will this "analytical notation" failure be removed? I just bought an m16 laptop and was about to return it to best buy because of this failure

@Brian0314 , I have exactly the same symptoms with "PCI Bus - Functional Tests - D0701" failure on my Dell Alienware Aurora R9 computer. How did you solve the problem?
