Does rootvg on aix, can be migrated easily, from local to SAN(vmax)..
Are there any approaches for migrating rootvg in a local to SAN(vmax) and SAN(ds4800) to SAN(vmax) migration...w.r.t LVM migratepv...I learned from this forum help that migratepv is cool migrating normal volumes with 100% uptime...is the same with rootvg which constitutes boot volumes( As I understand)..or any caveats in doing so...

Hello SAN_AK,
In regards migratepv, I have no personal experience, so cannot comment unfortunately.
But I did come accross the following info which you probably already have seen, but just in case:
The only situation that is specific to rootvg is if the desired disk contains the boot image.
Use the lsvg -l rootvg, command to determine if the logical volume has a type of boot:
If the boot image resides on the disk that you want to migrate. You must first move the boot image with the migratepv -l command.
Full listing of commands and examples are in the IBM link:

Hope this helps,
