Hi ,
we have two sites, two DMXs more than 40 servers each site, is there is any way to enable direct access from servers on site A to site B array and vise versa , i may create new zones but i recall i cant mask a device on site B to server on site B !!
any one implemenet this before ? they are asking to direct the servers to access the DR array in case i have a faulty issue on the main site !
Thanks,
if there is fabric connectivity between the sites, nothing is stopping you from doing that, zone the servers and you should be fine. Of course performance will depend on latency between the two sites.
Ok but i have few Q's;
- is it possible to mask a device from a remote array ?
- the devices are in ASYNC mode, then i need to pause the replica first and try to access the device or to type a script to pause all replication first?
- If i have two clariions then this should be the same case ?
Thanks
How are the two arrays connected ? FCIP / DWDM ?
Yes , Both MDS are connected via FCIP , SRDF is used for SYMs and RP for CXs.
VSANs merged between site A and site B or you are using IVR with transit VSAN ?
no IVR were used..
ok, so do you have dedicated VSAN for your SRDF ports or they are in the same VSAN as your hosts ?
yes , dedicated ports for the SRDF for the SYM case..
dedicated ports in dedicated "replication" VSAN ? Is this the VSAN that is trunked over FCIP link ? The reason i am asking is if you have dedicated VSAN for replication and dedicated VSAN for host connectivity, you will need to verify that your IVR topoligy includes the VSAN with hosts and storage in it.
