Getting warning while masking a device to a host hba port

Hello I am trying to mask a device to my host hba port, but when I run symmask command to mask the device, I get message saying device is already assigned to another port. I followed following steps,

[root@chania test-bin]# symmask refresh -sid 0421 -noprompt

Symmetrix FA/SE directors updated with contents of SymMask Database 000190300421

[root@chania test-bin]# symcfg discover

This operation may take up to a few minutes. Please be patient...

[root@chania test-bin]# symmask -sid 0421 -wwn 210000e08b925b19 -dir 16d -p 1 add dev 0292
The following devices are already assigned in at least one entry:

0292

Would you like to continue (y/ )?n

The devices were not added to database.

[root@chania test-bin]# sympd list | grep 0292

[root@chania test-bin]# symmaskdb list assignment -dev 0292 -sid 0421

Symmetrix ID : 000190300421

Device  Identifier        Type   Dir:P
------  ----------------  -----  ----------------
0292    210000e08b925b17  FIBRE  FA-16D:1

that tells you that device is already masked to another initiator, typically if you have a host with two HBAs you will get that warning after you masked your device to the first HBA.

is that what you want or you did it by mistake ?  If you have some kind of cluster then that is normal to present one device to multiple hosts.

that's true need to check if some one is using the device or not.

Dynamox, is there a best practices guide for EMC Symmetrix, which I can follow while administrating the Storage System?

if they have not discovered that LUN on the host, should be safe to unmask.
