How to measure syscall activity
Is there a way to measure syscall activity on a specific FA port on a VMAX or can only EMC support do that. I've been looking through SRM, Performance Analyzer, and symstat but I can't seem to find anything.
Thanks,
jeremy

Thank you very much, i found it. Do you know what number would impact performance?

Do you have access to Unisphere for VMAX with performance ?

this was a pretty significant impact to performance for my very latency sensitive oracle DB. These syscalls were generated by EMC Control Center (WLA agent). As you can see the minute i moved it to another set of FAs (dedicated just for ECC), %busy went way down. I am not sure if applications like SRM, Unisphere for Performance are just as "chatty" but if you can afford to move them away from sensitive apps .. i would do it.

We're not using port 1 on that FA.

I'm getting spikes every twenty minutes on the nose upwards of 30 syscalls/sec. The only two servers on those ports are Unipshere for Performance and Site Recovery Manager.

you looked at ports 0 and 1, this will impact both.
