Meta device implementation

Hi,

We are cleaning up our existing VMAX 10K and will re-deploy it in a new data center, Please advise what meta device creation and size standards should we follow.

We have ESX and AIX hosts only, All Windows and Linux servers will be virtualized. We want to keep standard device sizes and meta configurations only. Lun sizes vary from 2 GB to 4 TB.

ESX Luns should be expandable on the fly so we are planning to concat meta's but not sure if it will deliver the required performance.

Please suggest the best meta member no. and size's to follow as a best practice.

it's really up to you, we standardized on 34G "building block" year ago.  So if someone needs a 100G devices we create a 3 way meta (3 x 34g).  We have a lot of SRDF/S so we heavily utilize striped metas but for our windows servers we use concat meta for ease of expansion. Just review the maximum device size and maximum number of meta members.
