yes yes means HBA is logged-in into the FA and it's connected to the fabric. No yes means the HBA is on the fabric (plugged-in to the switch)  but not connected to this FA.

If Fabric logged in=No then masked Symmetrix devices wont be visible on host.

Basically when you zone an HBA & an FA(Hard or soft doesn't matter),you will see the hba making an entry in VCMDB.

Can use 'symmask -sid xxxx list logins ' to see which Fa Dir and HBAs are zoned so that devices mapped to the Fa dir can be masked to the logged-in HBA..

Hi,

I have query related to this. There is a HBA failure and when I check it with symmask list logins , I see following for both HBA wwns

Logged On

In     Fabric

------ ------

Yes        Yes

No        No

I thought it should be "No      Yes" for the failed HBA.

We have had HBA failures earlier also and we saw a "No      Yes" for those HBAs but here in this particular case I see "No     No". Can someone tell me what could be the reason for this and what is the significance of On Fabric Yes/NO?

Thanks

The Logged on to the Fabric may show as 'Yes" depend on some other factors:-

1) Check on the switch if this HBA is still logged on to the switch, There might be cases where HBA causes errors but still remains logged on to the switch, in such case you can see "YES" on fabric logged on

2) The symmetrix may be pulling old information. Try running Symmask refresh and Symcfg discover to see the latest configuration and then check the output

If the HBA is not logging on the switch you should not see "YES' for Fabric login.
