as per my undersstanding wwnn is the group name and wwpn is the individual port address---is this rite?
if so i see that both wwnn and wwpn are same for each of FA port in symm?

A World Wide Name (WWN) is a 64-bit globally unique number, usually presented in hexadecimal notation. For example:
10000000c92d024e
Each WWN is assigned at the vendor's factory. For many devices, the WWNs can be changed at a later time.
WWN is a general term. When referring to a WWN, you are either referring to a World Wide Port Name (WWPN) or a World Wide Node Name (WWNN).
World Wide Port Names (WWPNs)
A WWPN is the globally unique identifier for each individual port on a Fibre Channel network. Because of differing use of WWNNs (see below), the vast majority of Fibre Channel management tools are referring to the WWPN when talking about a WWN.
World Wide Node Names (WWNNs)
A WWNN is the globally unique identifier for each node on a Fibre Channel network. The WWNN is intended to identify each individual computer on the SAN. As each computer can have multiple Fibre Channel adapters, each WWNN can have multiple WWPNs assigned to it. This is intended to ease management for devices with several Fibre Channel ports.
For Fibre Channel switches, the WWNN is the globally-unique identity of the switch itself.
For hosts, in most circumstances, only adapters with multiple ports ("multi-port HBAs") use the same WWNN across all ports. In the more usual case where a host has one or more separate adapters, each adapter will have its own unique WWNN. Some vendors give the ability to share the same WWNN across all adapters in the host, but this is not a common configuration. In some cases, a vendor may even choose to not share the same WWNN across all ports in the same adapter. Because of the lack of consistent use of the WWNN, management software exclusively uses the WWPN for all host management and monitoring functions.

The only thing I would add (or clarify) is that in my experience when you have the option of changing a device's WWN it is the WWPN that you can change. The WWNN stays static.

FA-3A 0 50060482d52ecac2 Yes No Yes
FA-3A 1 50060482d52ecae2 Yes No Yes
FA-4A 0 50060482d52ecac3 Yes No Yes
FA-4A 1 50060482d52ecae3 Yes No Yes
FA-7A 0 50060482d52ecac6 Yes No Yes
FA-7A 1 50060482d52ecae6 Yes No Yes
===========
bash-2.05$ sudo symcfg -sid xxxx list -fa 3A
FA-3A 0 50060482d52ecac2 Yes No Yes
FA-3A 1 50060482d52ecae2 Yes No Yes
==================
As he said above, FA-3A is assumed as one node in network, like one HBA and having 2 different ports....
one FA and 2 ports.... see o/p above...
the first command shows you the wwnn and second one shows you the port WWPN ...
