Adding new disk to RAID-5 array

I had a RAID-5 array on my PowerEdge 4600 with 3 disks and determined that I needed to add more space.  I purchased an additional drive, initialized it and added it to the virtual disk, but I am not seeing additional storage space under Windows Explorer.  Must I reformat the virtual disk to see the new size?

Thanks.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the reply.

Extend it using something like Partition Magic?

The new space will show up as unused space in Disk Manager.  You will have to either extend an existing partition into the new space or create a new partition in the new space.

That depends on your OS.  PM should work.  W2K3 has diskpart built into the OS.

It's a Windows 2000 Server so I guess I'll be using 3rd party software.

Thanks, Mark.
