I've just taken over support of a PE1600SC Server running Windows Server 2000 SP4.
I don't know all the details of it, but one of the owners called Dell the other day after the server was making all sorts of beeping noises. They told him that the hard drive had failed and he then ordered a new drive.
I went digging through the Event log and found no mention of that happening (although the C partition was almost out of disk space ... which I've managed to free up some space now). I tend to believe that the disk space issue was the problem.
But I still have another issue with this particular server.
When I start the Array Manager utility (it's build 3.4.532.0), it doesn't seem to find the hardware on the server. So I cannot see anything regarding the disk setup on the server. So I cannot tell if the hard drive really went bad, or what sort of RAID setup they have.
