Can I upgrade an IDRAC 7 Express to Enterprise?
One of our new T420 servers came with an Express Idrac which we'd like to upgrade to the Enterprise version so we get the remote console - so useful when stuff goes bad!
Is this possible pls? It looks like it might just be a license issue so more $$ perhaps?

Thanks for that - I had found that white paper but was not clear. My Dell rep. here in the UK thought you could not do it but was uncertain & didn't seem to want to find the answer - sigh... I'll be a bit more pushy!

you should be able to contact your Dell sales representative and have him/her sell you the Enterprise upgrade license, or go to Dell's online license portal to do the same. You can read the PDF at en.community.dell.com/.../20067892.aspx for more details on this and other licensing issues. I hope this answers your questions.
