Dell OpenManage Plug- in Version 2.0 for Nagios Core

I have a problem using wsman and this plugin. SNMP seems to be working properly

I am using the following command
./dell_device_discovery.pl -H 192.168.101.102 -P 2

This is the log file of the failed attempt

Hi Frederik,

Could you please let us know following details:

  • Is the IP address that you are providing as a parameter to the "dell_device_discovery.pl" a iDRAC IP Address or Server Host IP Address? Since Dell OpenManage Plugin for Nagios-Core uses Out-of-Band (Agent-Less) method for discovery and classification, you need to provide iDRAC IP Address.
  • Could you also please share more details on the Dell Server that you are trying to monitor such as model, iDRAC firmware version, etc.?
  • Is the issue that you are experiencing holds applicable for more than one Dell server?

Thanks & Regards,

Anupam Aloke

Hello Aloke,

  • Is the IP address that you are providing as a parameter to the "dell_device_discovery.pl" a iDRAC IP Address or Server Host IP Address? Since Dell OpenManage Plugin for Nagios-Core uses Out-of-Band (Agent-Less) method for discovery and classification, you need to provide iDRAC IP Address.
    • I'm entering the IP address of the iDRAC.

Hey guys

There's a file that needs to be edited with the right username and password

/usr/local/nagios/dell/resources/dell_resource.cfg

# Sets $USER21$ to one of the WSMAN Username
$USER21$=root

# Sets $USER22$ to one of the WSMAN Password
$USER22$=calvin

Thank you to  ankit_bansal3 of Nagios Forum

Hi,

I did changed the dell_resource.cfg file with the correct username and password. We are logging in to the DRAC web interface with user administrator. (This is the account that I'm using for the USER21 and password for the item USER22) I have also entered the correct community ID. See log in previous post.

What can be the problem here? I'm running the discovery script with the option to check the DRAC via SNMP and not WSMAN.

Regards,

Frederik

Hi Frederik,

for me this was the trick:

To stop all the services, please execute the command - srvadmin-services.sh stop

2. Go to /opt/dell/srvadmin/etc/srvadmin-storage/ directory

3. Open stsvc.ini file

4. Please comment the line - vil7=dsm_sm_psrvil. For commenting it out, you need to write ";" and one space before the statement, like "; vil7=dsm_sm_psrvil"

5. Save and close stsvc.ini file

6. To start all the services, please execute the command - srvadmin-services.sh start

Hello, This has not solved my problem. When trying to run the script

 perl /usr/local/nagios/dell/scripts/dell_device_discovery.pl -H

I have the problem

Hello,

The discovery seems to work for iDRAC version 7 but not for iDRAC version 6. Any idea?

Thanks for the feedback.

Frederik
