Dell Server Update Utility

Hello I have been running Dell Server Update Utility(22.07.00) for about 1 hour now and 4 of the 20 updates are constantly saying "not started' with the dots next to it indicating it's waiting. Most say Successful or Reboot required, is it normal to take over an hour? Should I attempt to reboot?

Thanks very much

Hi, What is your OS? You may need OMSA reinstallation.

Hello,

BIOS, Backplane Expander F/W, Video Driver. All others are successful or "reboot required".

Can I reboot the server and let the pending ones update safely?

thanks in advance

Can you let me know which are the four components which pending? You can finish remaining update and try again. If pending update are firmware and not driver, You can also try update the firmware using iDRAC

It has three dots cycling through against the updates that say "not started". I presume it will install the updates it can if I reboot and just simply fail on those other four. But I would love to get your opinion before I do anything, thank you

I was able to reboot and all but the BIOS updates were successful. I have also tried to run the BIOS installer file sepereately and it fails, any suggestions?

Thanks.

Hi, this is an unusual behavior and I think this would be best handled with an official ticket raised. Could you please refer to the link below for deeper dive?

Did you got any specific error message when try to update BIOS using individual installer. Can you try updating BIOS using iDRAC

Hello DELL-Shine K, the issue seems to have been resolved after updated the iDRAC version. Thank you for your help. I do have one question though - in the Dell OSMA software it doesn't show all of the devices under system chassis. I am using version 10.3.0.0. I have attached picture of a normal RX740XD typical system OSMA.PNGOSMA problem.PNG

Looks like some issue with iDRAC. Is this specific system have this issue from beginning or it is observed after FW update. Can you reset iDRAC and Operating system and check the behavior.  You can also check whether all OMSA services are running on this server. You can refer below link for same

https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-in/000134420/troubleshooting-for-openmanage-server-administrator-if-not-opening-updating-or-showing-correct-information

If any of the above steps did not help can you uninstall and install OMSA and check the behavior? What operating system you have on the server?
