Dell UPS Tower 1000W 230V

Hi, as subject, I would like to inquiry about the following:

1. How long is the C14 cable provided?

2. The Load is C13 Receptacles, how to connect load with 3-pin plug then? Like the Dell Monitor's power cord?

3. Can I connect a 2.1 Speaker to the UPS?

Actually, I want to contact the technical support for the above BUT CAN'T BELIEVE that it needs service tag/warranty etc. to get help!!! My order is in process of shipment so how do I provide?! Dell is so very nice indeed!

P.S. Don't know if this place is right for posting; can't find specific section for Dell UPS for god's sake!

Saruri,

Use http://dellups.com  for all you UPS questions.

The dell 1000 Watt 230 Vac UPS uses common IEC 10 Amp (called IEC 60320 C13 to C14) rated jumper cables. A typical IEC jumper looks like http://www.google.com/imgres?q=iec+cable&hl=en&biw=1440&bih=703&gbv=2&tbm=isch&tbnid=A4VoJvi8YnTwaM:&imgrefurl=http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx%3FItem%3DN82E16812115029&docid=KzDJLs6J9r7bKM&imgurl=http://images10.newegg.com/ProductImageCompressAll300/12-115-029-02.jpg&w=300&h=225&ei=6efUTricN8Xy0gH93tSVAg&zoom=1

There are four (4) of the IEC 10 Amp cables included with the 1000 Watt 230 Vac UPS. The table which follows details what is in the box.

What's in the box:
UPS BOX: 1 x 1000W UPS, 4 x power cable - 6 ft (2.0 m), IEC 320 EN 60320 C13 to IEC 320 EN 60320 C14. 1 x USB cable. 1 x CD (containing User's Guide, Quick Start Guides, Dell UPS Management Software), 1 x Quick Start Guide (9 languages).
NMC BOX: 1 x NMC card, 1 x serial cable, 1 x Quick Start Guide (setup instructions), 1 x SERI.

You can connect AC powered devices to the UPS (laser printers are not recommended due to their cycling (on-off)) as long as the total power does not exceed 1000 Watts.

To assist you in in undestanding what you are receiving, Dell 1000 Watt 230 Vac information is at  http://www.dellups.com/solutionUPSConfig.asp?oemUPSID=92&solutionID=631244&ResellerIDCode=1

I looked at the dell ups site but found little information in relation to specs for the 1000W tower UPS.

I'm looking for specifications that would clarify whether the ups has true sine wave or modified square wave output.

Statements as to whether redundant power supplies can or should both be plugged into the ups, whether the ups handles modern power factor correcting (pfc) power supplies, etc.

I'd hate to go to the trouble of ordering something only to find it's not what i expect.

specs for 1000W tower UPS can abe found at dellups.com/solutionUPSConfig.asp (120V model) or dellups.com/solutionUSS_list.asp (230V model).

As for true sine wave, yes, it has a true sine wave on utility (mains) and inverter power. Good point as Dell does not recommend modified square wave with a number of their workstations. All Dell UPS (500W through 5600W) have a true sine wave on utility (mains) and inverter power.

Redundancy: If you have a device with redundant power supplies, you do have a choice to connect both into one device (UPS) or connect one into the UPS and the other into another power source - typically utility (mains) power.

Regarding power factor corrected power supplies. The Dell UPS is designed to support PFC power supplies. That is one of the reasons why the Dell UPS are sized in Watts. For example, a PFC typically will be at .97 power factor. This means that the real power (watts) is 97% of apparent (VA) power, or for a 1000W power supply the wattage would be 970W and VA would be 1000VA. Again, which is why the Dell UPS are rated in Watts. To give more real (watt) power in relationship to apparent (VA) power.
