How can I attach both Virtual DVD and Virtual Floppy using https file server

iDRAC supports Virtual Media feature that allows ISO or .IMG files to be mapped as virtual dvd or floppy devices. I could map both ISO and IMG same time as 2 different virtual devices.

However same is not working when I try to share these ISO and IMG files from HTTP files server.

Looks like Remote File Share (RFS) restricts only one at a time. Where as HPE iLO supports 2 virtual media mounts from remote file share.

I need to mount an ISO and IMG together. Is there a way I can do this for Dell PowerEdge servers with iDRAC9?

Hello,

In general, I know that "ISO" and "IMG" cannot be mounted at the same time on iDRAC. I did some research but couldn't see an example for similar usage. Here I am sharing some documentation on Remote file Share https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-us/idrac9-lifecycle-controller-v4.x-series/idrac9_4.00.00.00_ug_new/managing-remote-file-shares?guid=guid-cf178650-6093-4cc8-a9de-6acd4ba16d56&lang=en-us

Also, when I checked the release note for iDRAC9 version 5.00.00, I saw something like "Ensure that you use digest authentication for HTTP/HTTPs share for all iDRAC and LC features, basic authentication is no longer supported and is blocked by iDRAC due to security risks.https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-us/idrac9-lifecycle-controller-v5.x-series/idrac9_releasenotes_5.00.00.00/authentication?guid=guid-ddc92558-5d6b-41fd-9e63-e82cc843ee02&lang=en-us

and "Remote File Share (RFS) through HTTP is only supported without authentication.https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-us/idrac9-lifecycle-controller-v5.x-series/idrac9_releasenotes_5.00.00.00/miscellaneous?guid=guid-e4d4b586-cab4-4881-aeb6-68aebf66c7ec&lang=en-us

If I find a workaround, I will update the topic, please update this topic if you find a workaround.

Thank you Erman for your response. I was able to mount an ISO using Python Redfish scripts as Remote File Share. I will check the documentation links you shared to see if there is any alternate approach or workaround. If I find one I will surely update here!

I managed to achieve unattended OS deployment using virtual media mount from remote file share.
