Installing VMware 5.5 on R320

Hello folks

I'm trying to install VMware on an R320. This server does not have the dual flash card internally nor an iDrac.

I have been very successful build RAID 0, 1 and 5 virtual drives - I have 4 HDD.

The VMware installs to - somewhere - but it is not on the virtual drive and when it reboots, it does not boot to the VMware

What is required to make the VMware image install to the virtual drive and that virtual drive become the boot device?

Thanks!

Richard

Hi,

Have you checked the boot sequence in the bios or uefi? Did you use our custom image to install? https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/drivers/driversdetails?driverId=548MW

Yes sir, I've found a few docs stating the order to place the devices for the boot sequence. Still, the image boots up and installs somewhere - perhaps into memory. However, once the image installs , the server reboots stating a bootable device is not available or not found, can't off the top remember which.

And it sees the virtual disk when you start the install? Can you post screenshots?
