i use Nagios to monitor a pool of devices. have some precision rack units and md1200 arrays. was going to install OMSA as Nagios supports pulling information from it however im using Windows 7 and 10 on them so it wont work. found command monitor for clients. will command monitor present itself to Nagios like OMSA would so it can retrieve stats the same way it would from OMSA?
There is no Nagios plug-in available for Dell | Command Monitor (DCM).
DCM can be interfaced with OpenManage Essentials (OME) to manage Precision units.
Thanks for the information. I installed Dell Command Monitor and talked about services stopping and starting during the process but don't see any Dell services in my install so not sure if that was just the SNMP service being bounced. Setup the SNMP to a public community name and make sure my remote system has rights thru it's IP to read the information. I can pull some information from the system but anything listed in the Dell SNMP guide says it can't find the variable name. Went thru the 10909 mib file and tried some of those OID values but doesn't respond. Before I install anything else want to make sure Command Monitor is actually working. Is there something after install is done I am supposed to be doing to get things working thru SNMP? An example for a Dell Precision with COmmand Monitor installed that should be working maybe?
EDIT: Note I was able to pull something with SNMP walk but it has a nasty timeout at various points and complains variable does not exist. Walked .188.8.131.52.4.1
I see things in the book like about SystemStatePowerSupplyStatusCombined which is OID .184.108.40.206.4.1.674.10909.1.200.10.1.9 in the 10909 mib file. But when I query the system for the results it doesn't come up.
There are specific list of OIDs which are supported through DCM. You can find the list of supported attributes in this document link here. For example try OID 220.127.116.11.4.1.674.10909.1.300.50.1.8 to get BIOS Version of system.
There is also a video for integrating DCM with OME here.
Please let me know if you have any more questions.
Thanks. Question on the output. So for like:
.18.104.22.168.4.1.674.10909.1.200.10.1.23 which is the systemStateTemperatureStateDetails. I get:
What does the 02's mean? I know normally 02 means unknown but the .22.214.171.124.4.1.674.10909.1.200.10.1.24 value shows 3 which means OK so odd that Temp details would be unknown but the combined value would be OK so thinking the detailed may mean something else.
