OMIMSSC: Health state not correct after changing to Detailed Feature

Hi,

we are using the OMIMSSC for SCOM 7.2 appliance and have around 120 systems added. We started with the default scalable feature and saw two devices with errors (one warning and one critical). However, we only saw that one of the servers has a problem with a power supply, but the health information would not show any more information. So we decided to turn on Detailed Feature, following the documention be running the tasks in the dashboard and then syncing from within the appliance.

One day later nothing has change, instead, the two errors are gone and everything is now showing in green !

On the idRAC we can see the error:

On the iDRAC we can see the errorOn the iDRAC we can see the error

In the appliance the health state is critical:

in the appliance the health state is criticalin the appliance the health state is critical

But in SCOM everything is green !in SCOM everything is greenin SCOM everything is green

We also removed the device and added it back in, but no joy

What are we missing here ?

Thanks
Thorsten

After waiting for two days the alert finally showed up. It turned out that the monitoring server (relay agent) was overloaded after switching to detailed feature as we seem to have too many systems to monitor. For now I've changed it back to scalable till we decide how to proceed. According to the documentation one relay server can only monitor 30 Dell systems which is not a low

Hello,

What is the error that the iDRAC is picking up from the PSU? Secondly, do any other alerts work, or is it only the PSU that is having problems reporting back?

Hi @Dell-DylanJ

power supply redundancy is lost and therefore an alert is shown on the iDRAC. We were able to see that state ok using the Scalable Feature MP:

nwyb1-power.JPG

Even vCenter shows that alert:nwyb1-vcenter.JPG

We have a second system with a warning condition which is not shown in SCOM. npka1-idrac.JPG

Warning state is shown inside the appliance but not in SCOM.

We don't see any alerts for devices after we switched from Scalable to Detailed Features

Thanks
Thorsten

Hello @Thorsten_S,

Regarding this Power redundancy error. Could it be a false positive? Can you check the Power Supply firmware version? Make sure is up to date because this is tipically a false positive error message that is flaping continuosly.

Regards.
