Poweredge T320 IDRAC failed and fan runs constantly
We have a Poweredge T320 and the IDRAC seems to have failed. I don't need the IDRAC and have never used it, but since this failure the cooling fan runs constantly and is annoyingly loud.
I have tried re-setting the IDRAC and nothing appears to help. I believe it is just toast. But otherwise the server works OK. Is there any way to get the fan to go off other than disconnecting the power (which I know is a bad idea)?

Hi,
The iDRAC is what controls the fan speed, so without it the fans are going to run at maximum. You can try unplugging the server for about a minute and then seeing if the iDRAC will reset and start working. Trying to update the iDRAC firmware may also work.
